What Does It take to become an ICT Student

IT Training for students is here to provide IT training and software application support to all students at York St John University.
We offer a wide range of courses & workshops in a variety of applications, and can also run bespoke/tailored workshops to suit faculty/department needs.
If you'd prefer to learn something for yourself, in your own time and at your own pace, then we can also provide downloadable resources for self-study and access to online e-Learning Resources.

My Dream My Future

Most people I know have a dream. In fact, I’ve asked hundreds, if not thousands, of people about their dream. Some willingly describe it with great detail and enthusiasm. Others are reluctant to talk about it. They seem embarrassed to say it out loud. These people have never tested their dream. They don’t know if others will laugh at them. They’re not sure if they’re aiming too high or too low. They don’t know if their dream is something they can really achieve or if they’re destined to fail.

Most people have no idea how to achieve their dreams. What they possess is a vague notion that there is something they would like to do someday or someone they would like to become. But they don’t know how to get from here to there. If that describes you, then you’ll be glad to know that there really is hope.

Change: It Starts With Me

ONE particular saying that has always struck me as unintelligent is, “People don’t change.” I believe that although each individual has deep-rooted personality traits, we are not held captive by them. Believing that we can’t change encourages us to accept our weaknesses. Countless people with substance problems declare they aren’t capable of quitting. But then it is much easier to continue a harmful behavior when accountability is placed on an outside force like genetics or an “addictive personality”.

When we say people can’t change it is analogous to saying people can’t learn. I have read that when you learn something new, that knowledge fundamentally changes you. Each fragment of information adds to your personal database, creating additional resources to draw on when interacting with the outside world. We face the same temptations to take on negative behavior, but we also build a body of experience that tells us the reward isn’t worth the penalty. Comparing ourselves today from ourselves a few years ago, we can observe that we are the same but more.

Kannawidan The Ylocos Festival

Now on its 5th year, the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival had already established its identity as the prime festival of the province. The festival was launched in 2008 under the leadership of then Governor Deogracias Victor B. Savellano to commemorate the 190th foundation day of Ilocos Sur as separate province through the approval of a Spanish Royal Decree on February 2, 1818.

“Through this “Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, we are preserving and sustaining our old traditions, attractive products and practices as we are also promoting our tourism industry,” Savellano said.

According to Governor Luis Chavit Singson, the province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the television, computer and internet. The 2012 Kannawidan Ylocos Festival opened with a concelebrated mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral followed by a procession of the patron saints of the 40 parishes including the images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary around the province’s capital city in the afternoon of on January 29.
